NDTS is the acronym for National Dual Training System. 'Dual' means training in two learning situations where training is a joint venture between companies and training institutions.

Duration is based on the scope and level of Certification
Practical-Theory Ratio
70 - 80 % Practical training in real work situations
30 - 20 % Related theory classes at training centres
Method of Delivery
Day Release System
- For example, practical training for 4 days in the companyfollowed by one day of theory class at a related training centre.

Block Release System (if necessary )
- For example,  3-4 months practical training followed by 1-4 weeks of related theory class.
SPM graduate and/or salaried employee at work who
is selected by the company. The company is not bound to offer a job after the training.
Training Allowance
(If the training is conducted for 2 years)
Semester 1 – RM 350.00 per month
Semester 2 – RM 400.00 per month
Semester 3 – RM 450.00 per month
Semester 4 – RM 500.00 per month
Award of Certificate
K-Worker Certificate, equivalent to SKM (Level 3) or DKM
Qualification (Level 4) or DLKM (Level 5) approved by
JPK and relevant employers’ organisations. 

The apprentices are entitled to a minimum monthly allowance from the company/employer for the entire duration of the training as follows:

Semester Minimum Allowances per Month
First RM 350
Second RM 400
Third RM 450
Fourth RM 500


Financial Incentives
  • Reduce the cost of hiring skilled workers in terms of training, evaluation, advertising and selection.
  • Eligible for tax deduction under the Income Tax Act 1967 or eligible to claim training fees from the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) for companies / employers who qualify.
Raising the Quality of Productivity
  • Improve the quality of work, for employees who are trained are in accordance with the needs of industry.
  • Increase productivity as workers under NDTS can meet the needs of the entire job.
  • Improve competiveness as the company / employer is provided with sufficient and relevant skilled workers.
  • Increase the use of more efficient new technologies because NDTS apprentices are exposed to a wide range of new technologies during the learning process.

  • Improve the quality as the training provided over a specific period of time is based on the diversity of industrial processes.
  • Provide a positive impact in terms of employee performance and employee satisfaction.
  • Enhance the image of the company / employer as a producer of K-Workers to implement national social responsibility.
  • Helps create an additional mechanism for the purpose of promotion and enhance the skills of existing workers.
  • Provide opportunities for existing skilled workers in industries to be exposed to knowledge and training skills.
