Learning and Studying
Learning and Studying
Your success in the course hinges on learning and studying
Our governing bodies require you attend a certain number of face-to-face training hours in order to qualify. You will also need to complete a portion of hours in self-directed study (or where you direct your studying).- At The Course, including practical and theory classes
- Self-Directed Study (i.e. studying, completing homework, projects and routines at home)
At The Course
You will be expected to complete both practical and theory classes.
1. Practical Classes
Example For Aesthetic Students - In your course, you will be expected to act as both therapist and client during most sessions. This means you may undergo and give the less pleasant treatments, like electrolysis and waxing, and the more pleasant treatments, like facials and body massage. The exception to this would be where final examinations occur, and for nail technology students, who may practice nail technology on specialised manicure hands. You supply the cotton wool, tissues, linen, et cetera, while we supply the product.2. Theory Classes
Theory is important as this gives you the knowledge to perform treatments confidently and competently. You will be expected to attend the majority of theory lessons (even catching up on some one-off lessons if you have missed them).Self-Directed Study
You should completing between 10 and 15 self-directed study hours a week outside of class for courses meeting on-training centre for 20 hours a week. You should be studying theory and practicing practical routines outside of class.
During self-directed study time, you should be completing homework and projects, studying theory and practicing routines for quizzes and tests and final examinations, and completing treatments and the associated paperwork for case studies.
If you are finding where you live or normally study too loud or too distracting, you can go to your local library and study. You may also find additional texts in the library that may support your current learning. You may also want to form a peer study group with your classmates.
Peer Study Groups
You are encouraged to for your own study groups to help one another study throughout your programme. These groups have met in the past at the school, public libraries and fellow students’ houses or flats. You are responsible for organising these groups, meeting times,.jpg)
